Sourdough Waffles
Crisp, golden waffles with a soft centre and subtle sourdough flavour. A simple, delicious way to use your starter.
Ingredients
2 cups One Organic Farm flour
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup sourdough starter
1/2 cup oil or melted butter
2 eggs
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp water
Method
In a large bowl, mix the flour, water, and sourdough starter until smooth. Cover loosely and let rest at room temperature for 4 hours or overnight, until bubbly.
When ready to cook, stir in the oil or melted butter, eggs, sugar, and salt until fully combined.
In a small bowl, mix the baking soda with 1 tablespoon water. Gently fold it into the batter.
Preheat your waffle iron. Add batter and cook until golden and crisp.
Serve warm with butter, maple syrup, fresh fruit, or yogurt.
